Description

Playhead offers an easy way for you to navigate your Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Express timeline from your iPhone. Playhead takes some of the pain out of organizing lots of footage by allowing you to do it from a comfortable position rather than sitting over the keyboard. It is also great for client presentations, such as when they come to visit your studio. Playhead is not, however, intended to replace your keyboard and mouse for editing.

Playhead allows you to: play/pause, rewind, fast forward, go directly to the beginning/end of the timeline, navigate frame by frame, set in/out points, create, name, and color-label subclips, switch between the viewer and the timeline, and add markers.

The iPhone or iPod Touch running Playhead must be on the same Wi-Fi network as the Mac running Final Cut.

IN ORDER TO USE PLAYHEAD YOU MUST DOWNLOAD THE PLAYHEAD AGENT (COMPATIBLE WITH MAC OS 10.5+) TO RUN ON YOUR MAC, WHICH IS AVAILABLE AT http://wind-up-toy.com/apps/playhead/

Works with both Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Express

Nice, but ...

:
I agree that it does what it says it does. But Playhead seems to get "stuck" a lot though. By that I mean it seems to stop responding to input on the iPad. Sometimes it just needs a second and then executes the buffered keystrokes and other times you need to manually override it with mouse or keyboard to get Playhead to respond again.
It's cool that it has a match frame button but a significant miss that it doesn't have Next Clip (up arrow) or Previous clip (down arrow) as this is a pretty standard way for editors navigate around a sequence in FCP.

It's a nice idea but I don't see any advantage over working at the keyboard since it has some significant limitations. And instead of Playhead I think it should be called "Sub Clipper" as that (and limited marking) is all it can do.
